Please note that currently my practice is full and I am no longer taking on further clients.

What are your Fees?

Fees are discussed and agreed at the first session and can be expected to reflect your gross income and the time of day of your session.

My fees are negotiable from £70 to £90 for a 50 minute session. The first session will be charged at £70. Please note: I am no longer taking on further clients.

Fees are payable at the end of each session by cash or cheque, or may be paid a month in advance. BACS payment can be arranged on a weekly basis or a month in advance.

Fees are revised on an annual basis. A month's notice will be given of any intended increase.

Where are you Located?

My practice is at 10B Barnard Road, off St John's Road, Battersea, London SW11 1QS. What about Confidentiality?

All information is treated in the strictest confidence in accordance with the UKCP's Code of Ethics.

In exceptional cases (eg. if a client reveals current abuse of children or intention to cause serious physical harm to him/herself or others), counsellors have a professional and ethical duty to inform clients that they may find it necessary to take this information outside of counselling. For this reason, I may request the name and address of your General Practitioner. Any action is discussed with you first. Identities are not revealed in the regular supervision that I receive.

What is your availability?

Daytime and evening appointments are available in at my Clapham Junction and Battersea Practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I may on occasion hold sessions on a Thursday.

How long do sessions last?

A session is 50 minutes long and begins at the time booked. I do not have a waiting room so I would ask that you arrive no earlier than 2 minutes before your session time.

Sessions are normally arranged on a weekly basis, at the same time and at the same place, but I offer some flexibility for those whose patterns of work are subject to change.

What happens in our first session?

Our first session together is an assessment, to allow you to describe the issue you would like to explore, to allow me to discover something of your personal history and for both of us to see if we can work together.

If you are unsure about whether you want to proceed with counselling or psychotherapy you are under no obligation to continue beyond a first appointment, although the usual fee will be charged for it.

If we do agree to work together, I will offer you an informal contract, which explains the timings of sessions and what happens in the event of cancellations or missed sessions.

What is the format of each session?

The format of a session is typically that of a conversation in which you are free to talk about whatever you wish to bring in a safe and confidential environment. I will respond in a non-judgemental and constructive way. Sometimes the conversation will flow, at other times it may lapse into silence. The key thing to remember is that you don't have to face your concerns alone.

As we are all unique I adapt my way of working to what will work best for you. Although much of our work together may involve a talking about what is happening currently in your life, it may be important to talk about things that have happened in the past and so understand how these affect your everyday life; with this awareness we can consider changes that could lead to a life that simply works better for you.

The most important aspect of my approach is that we work in a way that you are comfortable so that that you are able to take things at a pace which feels right for you.

What happens if I have to cancel an appointment?

Unless it is a unique event where your absence from a session is unavoidable, such as a funeral, jury duty or court appearance, the full session fee will be due unless you are able to give four weeks notice of a session that you will miss.

However, if you are unable to make an appointment for any reason please inform me in good time and I will make every effort to reschedule within the same week.

An appointment missed or cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged in full.

You will not be charged for sessions if I am away or forced to cancel.

How does counselling draw to a close?

If a set number of counselling sessions have been agreed, the contract comes to an end when they are completed, although the number of sessions may be extended beyond the number first proposed, by mutual agreement.

Notice of two to four weeks should normally be given before ending therapy, so that we can review our work together and make an appropriate ending.

I would like to start right away. How do I arrange an appointment?

If you feel ready to take the first step toward getting the kind of life that simply works better for you then call me on 07766 118 301. Alternatively, click here to email me.

There is voicemail for your message if I am unavailable when you call and I will return your call as soon as possible.
